I am out camping for a week, Away from the maddening crowds of The Blue Mountains. Not as populated as Sydney with its 4.5 million plus, but 78,414 as per the last census is still too many.
West North West of Sydney by 289 Kilometres. For some reason Google gave me the travel time for walking – 2 days and 15 hours – they obviously have not been told about my dodgy knees!
Whilst this area is predominantly rural grazing land, unfortunately Cows, Sheep and the occasional Goat or two. Wouldn’t it be grand if it was covered in Bison, Gazelles and Zebra instead.
However I have found and oasis, a rocky outcrop in the midst of swathes of green. To poor to graze cattle on, but great if you want some land of your own away from town.
The blobby ‘U’ shaped area in the middle is where we are camping. One of the few rocky outcrops in the area. Unsuitable for grazing, with its extremely poor soil.
Abounding with huge rocks and lichens and moss covering just about everything it can. The area is extremely wet at the moment, so the road has decorated into a swampy quagmire with access via foot or a quad bike.
Every rock, tree, nook and cranny is filled with Moss or Lichen.
These images taken with my iPhone. I cannot download the images from my Canon 60D until I arrive home next week and have access to my computer. As you can see in the top image I am spending a lot of time focusing on the macro with some wonderful results.
The world of the small and tiny is truly amazing if you take the time to look.
Lots more photos in a week.
